Configure Badge Printing

This section covers supported printers, how to configure and connect the Brother QL-820NWB, as well as how to handle reprints and common troubleshooting scenarios.

Supported Printers

The EventX app supports a range of badge printers. Wavecast currently supports and has tested the Brother QL-820NWB. Another compatible model is the Zebra ZD620.

Brother QL-820NWB

Fully tested by Wavecast. Supports label-style name badges via Wi-Fi or LAN.

Zebra ZD620

Compatible with EventX but setup workflow not performed by Wavecast.

Setting Up Badge Printing in EventX

Ensure your event has already been created in EventX before proceeding.

Step-by-Step Configuration

  • In the EventX portal, navigate to: In-Person Check-in > Name Badge .

  • Select your Printer Type (Brother / Zebra).

  • Select the Badge Size.

  • Click Edit Badge:

    • Drag-and-drop desired attendee fields (e.g., name, title, organisation).

    • Use the text editor to format font, alignment, and text size.

  • Click Save to confirm.

Badge data will only appear correctly if the corresponding metadata fields are present in the attendee record.

Connecting the App to the Printer

  • Open the EventX app on your check-in device.

  • Tap the Settings (cog icon).

  • Go to Printer Settings.

  • Toggle Printer Connection ON.

  • Tap Search for Printers and select your printer.

  • Ensure Badge Printing is toggled ON.

  • Tap Test Printing to confirm connection.

✅ Complete this setup before the event begins to ensure smooth check-ins.

Reprinting Badges

You can reprint badges directly from the attendee’s profile in the EventX app:

Manual search:

  1. Tap the attendee’s name in the list.

  2. Tap the badge icon in the top-right corner.

QR code:

  1. Scan the attendee's QR code.

  2. Tap the badge icon.

Troubleshooting Printer Setup

Issue
Solution

Printer not connecting

Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the same 2.4 GHz network as the check-in device (Brother only).

Printer not appearing in EventX app

Tap Search for Printers again in Printer Settings. Check Bluetooth/Wi-Fi.

Badge not printing automatically

Open the attendee profile and tap the badge icon to print manually.

Badge missing fields or data

Confirm that metadata fields are correctly mapped in the template and populated in attendee records.
