What changed

  • A new cancellation link opens the cancellation confirmation modal directly.

  • No extra information is required from the registrant to reach the confirmation step.

  • The cancellation link is provided as an email merge field with auto-login.

  • Cancellation is kept separate from unsubscribe (event cancellation ≠ email opt-out).

How it works

  • The registrant clicks the cancellation link in an email.

  • They land directly on the cancellation confirmation step (modal).

  • Once confirmed, their event registration is cancelled.

How to use it

  1. Open the relevant email template.

  2. Add the cancellation CTA text (e.g. “Cancel my registration”).

  3. Insert the merge field: [event_cancellation_link]

  4. Save and send a test email to validate the end-to-end flow.

Notes (integrations, reporting, permissions)

  • Unsubscribe vs cancel: Make sure email copy doesn’t confuse cancellation with email opt-out.

  • If you run cancellation confirmation communications, confirm whether a dedicated “cancel → confirm” email trigger is enabled/configured in your workflow.

  • Keep scope simple: the link is for cancellation confirmation (not account actions like “update registration”).

  • If users report they can’t cancel from email, verify they’re using the correct merge field and that auto-login is functioning.

FAQ

Is this the same as email unsubscribe? No. Unsubscribe is email opt-out; cancellation removes the event registration.

Does the link require the user to log in? The merge field is intended to support auto-login.
